RESET: Living by New Principles

When your device freezes or overheats you may be in need of a reset. Many of us may be entering this year feeling overworked and anxious, needy of a spiritual reset. The Ten Commandments are God's grand principles that help us thrive in every area of life. These principles give us a new way to look at our worship, relationships and desires. The Ten Commandments ultimately point us to the embodiment of these principles in Jesus.

Sermon | Contentment | Exodus 20:17; 1 Timothy 6:5-10

We're constantly tempted to want things we don't have: more money, things and pleasures. But the Bible calls us to contentment and find our ultimate satisfaction in ultimate things which will eternally satisfy.

Sermon | Speaking Truth in a World of Lies | Exodus 20:16: Matthew 5:33-37

We live in a post truth culture in which we're surrounded by the lies of politicians, businesses and social media. But in midst of these lies, Jesus comes as the way, the truth and the life. Jesus exposes us but also liberates us with his truth that we are broken but profoundly loved as his beloved.

Sermon | Living Generously | Exodus 20:15: Matthew 6:19-24

The Eighth Commandment calls us to refrain from taking what doesn't belong to us whether it be things, ideas or credit. But positively God calls his people to live free from the love of money and to live generously. Ultimately the cross teaches us that when we give lavishly, we'll reap eternal treasures.

Sermon | Resetting our Priorities | Text: Exodus 20:1-3

The first commandment is the great principle that God calls us to center our lives on. Counterfeit gods constantly seduce us with their false promises but only God can rescue us and give us the fulfillment we long for. We can reset our lives when we center our lives and commit this coming year to the God who saves and loves.
