December 15

Alleluia the Christ child comes,

And we await his birth.

Let us throw off our distractions,

And allow the chaos to settle.

Let us watch for the signs,

And listen to the messengers.

Let us stand on tiptoe,

And shout aloud and sing.

Something new is emerging,

Something new is being birthed.

TRUST IN GOD

Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine

He’s been my fourth man in the fire

Time after time

Born of His Spirit, washed in his blood

And what He did for me on Calvary is more than enough

I trust in God, my Savior

The One who will never fail

He will never fail

Perfect submission, all is at rest

I know the Author of tomorrow

Has ordered my steps

So this is my story, and this is my song

I’m praising my risen King and Savior

All the day long

I sought the Lord and ee heard and He answered

I sought the Lord and ee heard and He answered

I sought the Lord and ee heard and He answered

That’s why I trust Him

That’s why I trust Him

HOSANNA

I see the King of Glory

Coming down the clouds with fire

The whole earth shakes

I see His love and mercy

Washing over all our sin

The people sing, the people sing

Hosanna, hosanna

Hosanna in the highest

Hosanna, hosanna

Hosanna in the highest

I see a generation

Rising up to take the place

With selfless faith,

with selfless faith

I see a near revival

Stirring as we pray and seek

We’re on our knees,

we’re on our knees

Heal my heart and make it clean

Open up my eyes to the things I see

Show me how to love like You

Have loved me

Break my heart for what breaks Yours

Everything I am for Your Kingdom’s cause

As I walk from earth into eternity

Hosanna, hosanna

Hosanna in the highest

Hosanna, hosanna

Hosanna in the highest

ALL

God of love, all year long we pursue power and money, yet you came in weakness, as a child.

All season long we want more stuff, more for us, but you alone offer what is lasting.

Through the work of our Lord Jesus, who comes among us full of grace and truth, forgive us, heal us, correct us.

Then open our lips, that we may sing your praise with the angels,

When we allow darkness to overcome the light, forgive us, Lord. When we reduce Christmas to plastic and tinsel, have mercy on us, Father.

When hardness of heart keeps us from seeing and believing in Your Song, let your grace fill us, O God.

Forgive our doubt and renew our hopes in Christ alone, that we may watch and wait and once more hear the glad story of our Savior,

Jesus Christ, the Lord.

In His name we ask, Amen.

Luke 1:18-20; 57-80

18 And Zechariah said to the angel, “How shall I know this? For I am an old man, and my wife is advanced in years.” 19 And the angel answered him, “I am Gabriel. I stand in the presence of God, and I was sent to speak to you and to bring you this good news. 20 And behold, you will be silent and unable to speak until the day that these things take place, because you did not believe my words, which will be fulfilled in their time.”

57 Now the time came for Elizabeth to give birth, and she bore a son. 58 And her neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had shown great mercy to her, and they rejoiced with her. 59 And on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child. And they would have called him Zechariah after his father, 60 but his mother answered, “No; he shall be called John.” 61 And they said to her, “None of your relatives is called by this name.” 62 And they made signs to his father, inquiring what he wanted him to be called. 63 And he asked for a writing tablet and wrote, “His name is John.” And they all wondered. 64 And immediately his mouth was opened and his tongue loosed, and he spoke, blessing God. 65 And fear came on all their neighbors. And all these things were talked about through all the hill country of Judea, 66 and all who heard them laid them up in their hearts, saying, “What then will this child be?” For the hand of the Lord was with him.

67 And his father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied, saying,

68 “Blessed be the Lord God of Israel for he has visited and redeemed his people 69 and has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David, 70 as he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets from of old, 71 that we should be saved from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us; 72 to show the mercy promised to our fathers and to remember his holy covenant, 73 the oath that he swore to our father Abraham, to grant us 74 that we, being delivered from the hand of our enemies, might serve him without fear, 75 in holiness and righteousness before him all our days. 76 And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High; for you will go before the Lord to prepare his ways, 77 to give knowledge of salvation to his people

in the forgiveness of their sins, 78 because of the tender mercy of our God, whereby the sunrise shall visit us from on high

79 to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.”

80 And the child grew and became strong in spirit, and he was in the wilderness until the day of his public appearance to Israel.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

All

It is right to give him thanks and praise.

COME YE SINNERS

Come, ye sinners, poor and needy, weak and wounded, sick and sore;

Jesus ready stands to save you, full of pity, love, and power

He is able, He is able; He is willing doubt no more

He is able, He is able; He is willing doubt no more

Come, ye thirsty, come and welcome, God's free bounty glori-fy;

True belief and true repentance, ev'ry grace that brings you nigh.

Without money, without money; come to Jesus Christ and buy

Without money, without money; come to Jesus Christ and buy

Come, ye weary, heavy laden, bruised and broken by the fall

if you tarry till you're better, you will never come at all.

Not the righteous, not the righteous; sinners Jesus came to call

Not the righteous, not the righteous; sinners Jesus came to call

Let not conscience make you linger, nor of fitness fondly dream;

all the fitness he requires is to feel your need of him.

This he gives you , this he gives you; ‘Tis the Spirit’s rising beam

This he gives you , this he gives you; ‘Tis the Spirit’s rising beam

The Incarnate God ascended, pleads the merit of His blood

Venture on Him, venture wholly; let no other trust intrude

None but Jesus, none but Jesus; can do helpless sinners good

None but Jesus, none but Jesus; can do helpless sinners good

The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.
